Glossary of AccommodationTerms:
Condo/townhouse
Characterized by private entrances, these self-catering units include some form of kitchen facilities, weekly or bi-weekly housekeeping, indoor or outdoor parking which is free of charge. Most often one bathroom per bedroom, with master bathroom en-suite, but this does vary (ie: a 2-bedroom may have 1 bathroom, or a 3-bedroom may have 4 bathrooms). If there is no washer/dryer in the unit, there's usually a laundry room with coin-operated machines in the complex. Check-in/out location is often not at the same place as the condo property. Condo's are suitable for all guests, especially extended families and those with small children. Condo's tend to be more economical than lodge-style accommodation, but are usually not as centrally located. Sorry, no pets.
Lodge
This is a combination of hotel and condo-style accommodations. Units, located in one large building, often feature some form of kitchen facilities, sometimes daily housekeeping, a few on-site amenities but not as extensive as the full-service hotel-style properties, often featuring an elevator, some have a front desk, etc. If there is no washer/dryer in the unit, there's usually a laundry room with coin-operated machines in the building. Sorry, no pets.
Studio
A traditional hotel room, but with kitchen facilities. Bed configuration is most often queen bed, and double sofabed. Full bathroom.
1 Bedroom unit
Similarly equipped to a studio, but these units have the bedroom private from the living area. The bathroom is usually off the living area, and full kitchen facilities are almost always included. One-bedroom units in some hotels do not have kitchens. Bed configuration is often king bed or two singles in the bedroom, with a double pull-out sofabed in the living area.
2 Bedroom unit
Similar to a 1-bedroom, except that there are two bedrooms private from the living area. Often with one en-suite bathroom, and one bathroom off the living area. Bed configuration is commonly king, queen or two singles in the master, queen, two doubles or or 2 singles in the second, and a double sofabed in the living area.
3 Bedroom unit
Similar to a 2-bedroom, except that there are three bedrooms private from the living area. Often with one en-suite bathroom, and one bathroom off the living area. Bed configuration is often king in the master, queen in the second, two singles in the third, and a double sofabed in the living area.
Kitchen
All the Panorama condo's and townhouses feature full kitchens with dishwasher, refrigerator, stove and microwave. All kitchens are equipped with cutlery, crockery, and glassware.
Ski in
Means that you can ski from the ski hill to an entrance of your hotel, lodge or condo complex.
Ski out
Means that you can ski from some point at your hotel, lodge or condo complex to the ski area. The access may be via a ski run or cat track, not necessarily directly via a lift base.
Ski in/out
Means that you have slopeside accommodation with very easy access to the ski hill. The access may be onto a ski run or cat track, not necessarily directly to a lift base.
Check-in time
Refers to the time of day after which your room will be ready for your arrival. You may present yourself at the front desk prior to this time, but there is no guarantee that your room will be ready. The front desk staff may be able to store your luggage and provide a parking pass, though, so that you can to explore while you're waiting for your room to become available.
Check-out time
Refers to the time of day by which you and your party, and all luggage, must be removed from your room. The front desk staff may be able to store your luggage and provide a parking pass, however, so that you are free to do other things if you're planning a later departure.
Sofabed
This is a double or queen size bed that folds out from the sofa in the living area
