Air Canada

By Air

Panorama Mountain Village's closest international airport is Calgary (YYC). Its less than four hours' drive from the airport to Panorama, and there are several ways to get here! Throughout the year, you can take the Greyhound to Invermere, then a taxi (Columbia Valley Taxi, (250) 342 5262) to Panorama. During the winter months, there's a scheduled shuttle between the airport and the resort - advance bookings essential. Otherwise, you can always rent a vehicle and drive yourself!

You can also fly into the Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC), which is located about halfway between Cranbrook and Kimberley, and about two hours' drive from Panorama. Let us arrange ground transportation from there.

Panorama Shuttle

By Scheduled Shuttle

Calgary-Panorama

During the winter season, the Panorama shuttle from Calgary International Airport offers the easiest option with door-to-door service. The Panorama shuttle from Calgary to the resort runs daily at 5pm, and it departs Panorama for Calgary at 6.45am daily.

Year round, the Greyhound bus service runs from the airport to Radium Hot Springs or Invermere, from where you can take a taxi (Columbia Valley Taxi, (250) 342 5262) to Panorama.

Banff-Panorama

During winter, a shuttle runs from Panorama to Banff at 4.30pm daily, and Banff to Panorama at 7.30am each day.

Cranbrook-Panorama

This winter, a scheduled shuttle will run between Cranbrook Airport and Panorama Mountain Village. It will be scheduled to meet the arrival and departure of the Delta Airlines flight.

Custom transfers (on-demand service, not necessarily private) between Panorama and Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise, Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie, and Golden are also available, as are larger vehicles. Please ask us for details of all these services, as well as private transfer options.

BC Highway

By Car

Using the maps, directions, and distances provided by Compass Tours, drive to Panorama Mountain Village in your own car, or in a rented vehicle.

We strongly recommend that, in winter, you rather make use of the available Panorama shuttle services unless you're very experienced and confident driving winding mountain roads in challenging winter conditions! In summer, the only way to get to Panorama is self-drive unless you take Greyhound to Invermere, and a cab (Columbia Valley Taxi, (250) 342 5262) from there.

Please be aware that road conditions can be treacherous in winter and that previous experience of driving mountain roads in snow and ice is strongly recommended - if you don't have that experience, please consider taking a shuttle or private service with professional driver.

All vehicles traveling to the area in winter must be fully winterized - winter or good-condition all-season tyres, winter windscreen fluid, chains* in the trunk, etc.

Driving a four-wheel- or all-wheel-drive, or a sports utility vehicle, does not guarantee that you'll stay on the road! Remember that you're on vacation - take your time and drive according to the conditions!

* Not all chains fit all wheels - make sure that your vehicle has the correct size chains before heading out. Be sure you know how to install chains before you hit the road because putting chains on can be tricky, especially when your fingers are cold and its dark out! Take the time to practice before departing - the staff at car rental outlets will be pleased to assist if you need help.

Alternatively, make your way onto Highway 3 eastbound, then Highway 95 northbound to Cranbrook, then through Fort Steele and Fairmont Hot Springs to Invermere. At Invermere, turn west for the 18km drive to Panorama.

Option 2: From Idaho (Coeur d'Alene/Spokane), take Highway 95 northbound, cross the border into Canada and join up with Highway 3 eastbound, which becomes Highway 95, towards Cranbrook, then through Fort Steele and Fairmont Hot Springs, to Invermere. Option 3: From Montana, take Highway 93 northbound, cross the border into Canada and travel north towards Fort Steele, and through Fairmont Hot Springs to Invermere. At Invermere turn west for the 18km drive to Panorama.

Note: During summer the road from Whistler to Kamloops is spectacular! The route gives you a great feel for the varied terrain and climate zones that British Columbia has to offer! During winter, please be sure to check road conditions and weather forecast details as the route is sometimes closed due to extreme winter conditions and/or avalanches. In this case, you would have to return to Vancouver and travel east along Highway 3 as described above.
